About NearFinder Australian Postcodes
NearFinder Australian Postcodes is a free directory of the postcodes of Australia. Every postcode is listed with the suburbs and towns it covers, their council and state, its streets and its location on the map. Every suburb and every street has its own page with its postcode.
Where our postcodes come from
- Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) from Geoscape Australia, published quarterly on data.gov.au: every address with its street, locality (suburb), postcode and coordinates. Licensed under the Open G-NAF End User Licence Agreement, whose terms are those of CC BY 4.0 with one restriction: the data must not be used to generate or compile addresses for sending mail unless each address is first verified against a secondary source. This site does not do that, and the G-NAF contains no personal information.
- Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Edition 3 allocation files from the Australian Bureau of Statistics: the local government area (council) of every address. CC BY 4.0.
Incorporates or developed using G-NAF © Geoscape Australia licensed by the Commonwealth of Australia under the Open Geo-coded National Address File (G-NAF) End User Licence Agreement. Local government areas: Australian Bureau of Statistics (ASGS Edition 3), CC BY 4.0.
How accurate is the data?
Addresses are added and retired every day; this directory follows the quarterly G-NAF release and lists current addresses only. Only postcodes with street addresses are included: PO Box, Large Volume Receiver and other postcodes without street addresses (about 300 of Australia Post’s postcodes) are not on this site. The suburb boundaries are those of the G-NAF localities, and the council of an address comes from the ABS Mesh Block it lies in; areas outside any council, such as the ACT, are shown as “Unincorporated”. For important deliveries, confirm the postcode with Australia Post or your courier.
